So it's well into 2012 now and what with Ben being incredibly busy at the moment I figured I'd break my cardinal rule of not posting twice in a row. If this blatant double postage offends you then I whole heartedly apologise. If not, here are some tracks I've been into recently.

Dillon Francis - I.D.G.A.F.O.S 2.0
The second movement if you like of Dillon Francis' absolute hit "I Definitely Grope Anteaters For Olives, Seriously" or whatever you want to do with that abbreviation. A very chill and bouncy dance track... THEN OH DEAR DUBSTEP. I like this one more than the original but I'm sure a few of you purists out there will be after it, so heres a link to that. Which do you prefer?

RackNRuin feat Janai - Dazed & Confused (SKisM's Baroque Out Remix) 10 Points
Haven't found the original of this anywhere but this remix more than overcompensates for that. Such a sinister mood is maintained throughout this track that makes me instantly think of haunted towers and such. If I could go back in time and add this to my halloween post I would. The synth lead heading into the drop is just perfect. Instant 10 points from me.

Klaypex - Feel Alright (Daft Punk)
So far my favourite remix of Daft Punk that wasn't done by Daft Punk. Things get quite different and exciting at around 1:45. Found Klaypex randomly while browsing one night last year and they haven't yet disappointed me. Most of thier music is free also, which is a bonus =D.

Flux Pavilion & Doctor P - Superbad
So two electronic giants teamed up back in november and brought us what I imagine late 70's dubstep to be like (if that were a possible thing). Superbad has become my unoffial theme for the movie of the same name. It also has a pretty sweet video!

James's Top Ten of Twenty Eleven

So this year is at last drawing to a close. It's been a tough one, but at least there has been some excellent music to guide us through. And so below is the top ten list of my favourite tracks from this year. I apologise in advance if I include tracks that came out before 2011, rest assured that I probably didnt discover them until this year (I fail at finding new music -.- Ben beats me to songs every time.).

10. Sudanim - Death By Brass Ensemble (Figure. I)
Something I stubled across in my exploration of the web this year. A free EP from an outfit called Sudanim. Usually I disapprove of misspellings (except for my own <.<) but I make an exception in this case. This EP is full of really harsh synths and glitchy sounds. Second favourite track would be Medievil, but the opening one is the best in my opinion.

9. Hoodie Allen - James Franco
The only thing rap-ish in my top 10. On second thoughts, this spot should probably have been taken up by "Tommy Ill's Birdbath". But I digress.
I couldnt resist a rap about everyones favourite Spiderman actor. Catchy hook and good beat. James Approved.

8. Zomboy - Organ Donor
This track is simply brutal. If you havent already, buy it then listen to it. cause this entire EP is great and cheap as chips. Wubwubwub.

7. SLDGHMR - Catch Fire (ft. 009 Sound System)
Another great song from another amazing free EP. SLDGHMR's other tracks are less funky than this, the EP is still six tracks of awesome. Catch Fire is some great disco electro with some smooth vocals. Even everyone's favourite crime dancer likes this track.

6. Knife Party - Destroy Them With Lazers
Knife Party's latest. I said when I first heard of these guys that they could do no wrong and honestly, I think I was right. Building back up from this songs breakdown (just after 2:00) just feel's outrageously epic. This track is off their recently released free EP 100% No Modern Talking (<-- download there) which features four knife party essentials.

5. AWOLNATION - Sail
Such a sad chill downbeat melody intersperced with some bass-synth buzz and some powerful vocals makes this song one of my new favourites. Cool video too. "Blame it on my A.D.D baby".

4. Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know (Feed Me Remix)
Don't know a lot about TDCC, but they seem to be your average indie rock pop group (sorry if you disagree). Introduce Feed Me (still one of my all time favourites) to this relatively mellow song and you get some sweet vocals leading up to one hell of a drop. Got some good speakers? take the volume to (20)11 and thank me later. This is by far Feed Me's best this year.

3. Justice - Ohio
Justice's latest album has had some mixed reviews, as it abandons the style of it's successful predecessor. On the first listen I was sceptical, but it has definitely grown on me, and it's now one of my favourite albums. Ohio is my favourite track from the album for it's smooth floaty style, in the same vein as Gorillaz's Superfast Jellyfish. The vocals also remind me of a specific song from a Sonic the Hedgehog game in my youth, go figure.

2. Phoenix - Lisztomania (Shook Remix)
Shook is one of my new favourite artists. He's got a chill discoesque style with some amazing keyboard solos and electro beats throughout his repertoire. This remix of the already great Phoenix song is pure genius. His latest EP is also excellent.

1. 0SM - Emerald Hillz (Original Mix)
Earning the coveted unmber one spot is 0SM. Fist off, I know, Sonic the Hedgehog again? Is he Sponsering em or something? Maybe I have a subconscious closet (subcloset?) obsession. I Digress x2 combo. This track is my new dance floor filler. You can tell the intro is building up to something good. And it's one of the best drops I've ever heard. Period. Wolfgang Gartner Reminiscent. 2:47, WHAM. That is why this gets #1 of 2011.

Now that that's done I'm ready to face christmas, the new year, and as much champagne as I can find. And I hope you are too. Merry Christmas.

Hey y'all, sorry for being slack with posts, I hope to make up for it by sharing some pretty great tracks:

M83- Midnight City (100 points)

Omg, this song you guys. It's pretty much perfect. The bird-call synths, the shoegazey verses, SAXOPHONE SOLO, it was a floor-filler at my last dance party, and a very very strong contender for my favourite track of the year. It also sounds great live. "City is my chuuurch..."

Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx- Nightcall (10 points)

Have you seen the movie Drive? You should see the movie Drive. This song's on it's soundtrack and this song's great. I love the mix between the "Megatron drunk-dialing" verses and Lovefoxxx (from CSS)'s soulful choruses.

Santigold- Go! (feat. Karen O)

Santigold and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O are such a match made in heaven that it's crazy it's taken till 2011 for them to do a song together. But it has happened and it's gooood. Also Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest produced it! Love that guy!

Holy Ghost!- I Wanted To Tell Her (feat. Juan Maclean and Nancy Whang)

Holy Ghost! continue their mission to make the world funkier with this cover of a Ministry song. Midi-slap-bass, horns, and a verse similar to the Human League's Don't You Want Me? Oh yeah. The best part, however, is Nancy Whang (previous back-up singer/keyboardist for one of my favourite bands) absolutely OWNING the song. Click above to download it from Mountain Dew's record label, which is a real thing that exists.

Florence & the Machine- Take Care (Drake cover)

Drake's new album "Take Care" is out and everyone seems to like it except me. But here's (my future wife) Florence covering the best track, the Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron sampling "Take Care". You know you want to hear Florence rapping.

Funking Funky when it hits 1:00 such smooth transitions, really dancy. Fedde le Grand is coming back! Put your hands up for detroit!

Michael Jackson - Thriller (Louis La Roche Remix) [Dirty]
An old but great remix of the paragon of all halloween music, MJ's Thriller. The synths in this make me want to start doing a coreographed dance sequence in the middle of the street somewhere.

Deadmau5 feat. Rob Swire - Ghosts'N'Stuff (Nero Remix) [DirtyChill]
More old music but I don't even care. This is one of Nero's best remixes ever if you ask me. And anyway, isn't that what halloween is all about? Ghosts N Stuff? Yeah!

Goosebumps Theme (NugZ Remix) [Dirty]
I remember being absolutely petrified by the Goosebumps book series as a kid, but by the time the poorly acted TV series came out I was too old for it and it just became hillarious. It did have a pretty rad theme song though. A spooky-nostalgia remix.

Hey, it's James again. And while Ben was at Feed Me in Wellington (lucky bastard) I have been sick. Thankfully I've prescribed myself some Wobble-based musical therepy thats been getting me through these bedridden times.

Skrillex - Syndicate & Skrillex - Bangarang [Wobbly]
Skirllex's latest tracks. Bangarang has been out for a fair while but the fact that it's a great track hasn't changed. Love the samples in this.
Syndicate is his most recent track which Sonny's made for the upcoming EA FPS game of the same name. Even if this game turns out to be rubbish, it's going to have a more than decent soundtrack with this as the title track.

360 - Killer (Redial Remix) [Wobbly]
Australian Rap artist 360 is someone I found using HypeMachine. The original of this song sounds like a poppy version of "The Streets" with an aussie accent (blurh). But this remix sounds more like if Tommy Ill decided he'd make a dubstep track! Definitely my surprising remix of the week.

Deadmau5 - Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Remix) [Wobbly Chill]
If Deadmau5's chilled out track with vocals and piano wasn't edgy enough for you, Madeon's (the electronic genre's favourite 17 year old) remix of it definitely does the trick. Madeon's happy-dancey- electro style is something I cannot get enough of.

Justice - Phantom (Part II) (Boys Noize Remix) [Wobbly FUCKK]
A remix of a classic track from Justice. And before you scream how blasphemous it is to remix Justice and burn your computers in disgust, I have to say that this remix definitely does the original justice (pardon the pun). Gives you even more of the FUCKK effect that the original does, which I didn't think was possible.

Last Wednesday I flew up to wellington to go see Feed Me.
Ready to party in a City I had never really been to I was down for a good night.
I have loved feed me's music ever since i discovered "Raw Chicken" a long long long time ago, i have always loved how he is more about the music and melody's that just the same old unse unse usne unse. Even though his tracks make the crowds go nuts.
He opened with the track "to the stars" and kept playing a lot of his own tracks in the beginning which was amazing. Would love to see him JUST playing his own stuff, but i guess he doesn't have enough tracks to do that just yet.
Stand out songs were:

Old but still hits hard

Feed Me - Cloudburn (ft. Tasha Baxter) [Wobbly]
My god did the crowd love this track, I enjoy this track but did not expect it to be the song everyone wanted to hear, Defiantly the song that made most people go to this gig.

Skrillex - First of the Year (Equinox) and Nero - Crush on You were both crazy but have already been posted on this site so i won't re post. And you all should have these songs anyway.

The first single from Donald's upcoming album "Camp". A lot more aggressive than we usually get from him, but it still references Invader Zim, Toe Jam and Earl and Human Centipede so yay.

YACHT- Dystopia (10 points)

I'm gonna recommend more tracks with a dance-punk sound, because that's my favourite genre and you should stick to what you're good at. Anyway this song rules. "The earth, the earth, the earth is on fire!!"

Klaxons- Atlantis to Interzone (Crystal Castles remix) (10 points)

I love Klaxons but this may be a case of a remix being better than the original.

Toro Y Moi- Still Sound

This guy is getting quite a good buzz (is that a thing people say?) these days and it's not hard to see why. I predict this song will be great for hungover summer mornings. Very funky, very chill.

The Smiths- Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before (Leviathan Remix)

That's right, a dubstep remix of the Smiths. Strange ways here we come indeed...

Porter Robinson has released his first EP a few days ago. The EP is the first release on skrillex's new label!
Im not going to put up a link for the whole album as it is so go I want you to go buy it, However i will put up some links to some great tracks off the album. He tries out a lot of new genres in this EP, He does moombathon amazingly well, but i wasn't to impressed by his attempts at dubstep.

Porter Robinson - Vandalism (feat. Amba Shepherd) (10 Points)[Dirty]
Some super festival music, for me this song is what you play at a massive festival to celebrate summer, really digging the melody in this track, beware the 3min long intro.

Porter Robinson - 100% In The Bitch[Boogiethon]
MOOMBATHON. Awesome sample/vocals, the second drop is pleasing. I enjoy this track abit to much.

Porter Robinson - Unison (Knife Party Remix) (100 Points)[Dirty Wobbly FUCKK]
OH YES. If you read the previous post you would have heard this track in the 15 min mix. My god i love this track, super energetic drumstep/electro? I dont know what it is but it is amazing.

Hey! I'm James, and Ben has graciously allowed me to contribute to Sonic Prophet. I tend to listen to a whole crazy selection of genres, so please forgive me if I post something outrageously weird or outside of your musical comfort zone. Anyway, enough of me, here's some tunes:

Knife Party - Exclusive UKF Mix (10 Points) [Dirty Wobbles]
The amazing dubstep side project formed by two members of Pendulum. This was already going be a guaranteed success even before it began. Some tasty drops in this 15 minute mix. Must have tracks are Porter Robinson - Unison (Remix) and Internet Friends.
I couldn't find a mp3 of this, so youtube link will have to do (sorry).

Feed Me - Cott's Face (Original Mix) [Dirty]
I've always been a huge fan of Feed Me (aka Spor's electro persona). All of his tracks really try something different with the electro genre, and this track is no exception. From Deadmau5's latest compilation "Meowingtons Hax." Deliciously dirty.

The Glitch Mob - Animus Vox [Dirty]
This track makes me think of some kind of crazy tribal ritual going on in the beginning, then at 1:30, aliens attack. Not sure if this is really classed as Dirty, but I don't think it fit into the other categories. Definitely worth a listen. From The Glitch Mob's 2010 album "Drink the Sea."

Herr Styler - Snow In Paris [Boogie]
Cheap synth and WOO's this track always makes me want to get up and dance. French electro music with a penchant for odd sounds and samples. Off the 2011 EP "Double Sided Paper"

C-mon & Kypski - Bomba [FUCKK]
A completely mad mix of Rock Guitars, Synths, Foghorns, and Dutch Vocals. Complete with a glockenspiel solo. After listening to this track on repeat for an hour I am relatively certain that I lost around 70% of my sanity. If you're looking for something (VERY) different, give this track a shot.

So I'm going to try start posting more.
I have just finished my remix of a Bastille track which i have just sent off to them and hopefully you guys will be hearing that pretty soon. From the sounds of things they are as excited about it as I am.

Ok, time for the music, over the past however long i have been away i have still kept on top of my new dance music, so here is my favorite's of what I have gathered so far.

Zomboy is a new face to me, my god is he good. Think Doctor P and Flux Pavilion get together and have a massive bass orgy with skrillex. Just listen to the track, Ignore my scary analogy's.

Hedwig's Theme [Virtual Boy Remix] (10 Points) [Dirty Wobbles]
Harry Potter Samples! Bitches Love Harry Potter. Anyways, this track is awesome, 8bit Atari styled electro into dubstep. All with harry potter magic mixed in. Fantastic.

Wolfgang Gartner - Menage A Trois (Original Mix) (10 Points) [Dirty]
Wolfgang Gartner! Redefining electro again! Interesting but fucking funky. Amazing production too.

Far Too Loud makes some amazing electro house, the complex style that is.

Oh and as of yesterday (01/09/2011) The laws here in New Zealand changed. Apparently everything you download is now highly monitored and any downloading of copyrighted music/movies/tv shows will get you a warning, 3 warnings and you have no internet. i read up on these rules and sites like Mediafire/4shared/zippyshare are safe to download from. So this site is still all good all you new Zealander's can download happily.

New Albums + New Tracks

Because I haven't blogged in so long I am going to do a bunch of posts now to hopefully make up my absence.

I have been keeping on top of my new music just not my blogging, so this post is going to filled with all the new albums that have come out that I enjoy.

The dubstep duo have released there album recently, and the whole thing is amazing, there are a few tracks that sound like "Justice" and then there is there signature stuff. I would put up a link to the album for download but it is so good I want you to buy it. In the meantime, here is my favorite track off the album.

Nero - Crush on You (1000 Points) [Wobbly]
1000 points, Nuff Said.

Kanye West and Jay-z have teamed up and also made a masterpiece. If you sample Flux Pavilion then i love you. The teh album is great but the tracks that stood out for me were: "H.A.M", "No Church in the Wild" and "Why I Love You".

Lil Wayne. Carter IV. Have to admit I was super excited for this,Wasn't as amazing as i was expecting but it does have a few tracks that stand out, "6 Foot 7 Foot", "Abortion" and "President Carter". My favorite track off the album is actually on the second CD of the deluxe edition,

Now things get weird.

Electronic music producer James Blake also released an album this year, only recently did i get my hands on it, If you like chill then you will love this. Possibly one of my favorite albums this year. (I should really do a post at the end of the year for my favorite albums?)
Favorite tracks off the album are: "Limit to your love", "Why don't you Call me" and "I Never learnt to Share"

The stand out track is this one:

And to get weirder.
Similar to James Blake but not as well knowen "Nicolas Jaar" also released an album this year. here is a video for my favorite track off the album.

I Promise to do a post on JUST dance music next time none of this rap/chill stuff.

This is a Full length album with the ledendary AC Slater as the producer and someone I have never heard of but starting to love, a rapper named Dell "o8o" Harri.
This is a fantastic album mixing Indie Dance with Rap. Great listen and best of all its free!

Porter Robinson has just released a new track so i think it is sutable to do a post on him. Porter Robinson is an American born electro house producer. And boy does he know how to make some killer tracks, I would compare him to Wolfgang. Defiantly someone to watch.

So I have decided i want to start adding little tags next to the tracks i put up to help my readers tell what type of music and what feel the music has so they don't have to listen to each track and download the ones they like.
I am also going to have them colour coded to make everything look pretty. and for those of you that don't come here to read the colours make it easier to find that track you want. (Unless you are colour blind.)

One of my favorite tracks by Bass Kleph. Amazing bass line.

Dubstep. I don't think that needs anymore explanation.

One of the many remixes of this song, this one is the most wobbly

Dirty
Dirty sexy electro house. Mainly anything with a saw style bass.
Feed Me - Talk To Me (Original Mix)
This is by far my favorite track from is EP "Feed Me's Big Adventure" Dirty electro house

Strobe
Tracks that require a strobe light to have full effect. This covers a bit of genres but will mainly be used to that afrojack dutch house, trance, rave, DnB ect.
Benny Benassi - House Music
Repetitive, but perfect for a strobe.

PTPD
The track Unleash The Fear by Uppermost is so ridiculously loud and filthy that Soundcloud users have coined a new term – PDTD. What’s that, you say? Post-drop trauma disorder. I like this term so I am going to start using on my blog to in hope that it catches on.

These guys are highly underrated but I have been seeing there names pop up more and more in the blogging world and a lot more on Beatport. I love these guys, each one of there tracks is mixed perfectly and they seem to have the perfect recipe for making perfect build's then drops into some heavy bass. Keep an eye on these guys as i think there going to be huge in the future.

This may be a big statement with the 1000 points but I'm going to stick with that choice as i have listened to the track way to many times and still like it. The vocal edits are amazing.
Skrillex has had his laptop stolen from his hotel so it is still unknown if this is the final mix down of the track.

James Blake - Limit to Your Love
Apparently hes the next big thing in the UK and i can see why, he has an amazing voice. Super chill with super bass.

Uppermost - System32 (Original Mix)
Uppermost has always been one of my favorites. He keeps getting better and better and to my knowledge he still uses FL Studio. (What i use) His production is amazing and the drops get me every time. This is his latest but i shall dedicate a post to him in the future.

In non dance related new. Tyler the Creator, one of the most talked about new artists this year has released is second album "goblin" I enjoyed it a lot but its not quite as good as his first album "Bastard" Its still the same antisocial shocking rap music that people know him for and is still a great album.
(Fader magazine tallied 204 uses of "bitch" over its 73 minutes).

I can't find a valid link for the album so you are just going to have to buy it yourself like i did.
He is only 20. so support him.

For those of you that don't already know, on Tuesday the 22 of February 2011 a very destructive earthquake hit Christchurch at 12:51pm. I live in Christchurch and felt the quake shake my house, first thing i did was jump up and hold onto my DJ gear for dear life. I am OK and everyone I know is OK but unfortunately a lot of people didn't even survive the earthquake. The prime minister has called it "New Zealand's darkest day"

Every now and then I am going to do an artist spotlight post, this is one of them.
Wolfgang Gartner (real name: Joey Youngman), is an amazing Californian electro / tech house producer and DJ He was previously known as Joey Youngman and produced deep house until late 2007.
In 2007, he made the official switch from Joey Youngman to Wolfgang Gartner and began producing mind melting electro house, super funky tech house, and catchy techno. Within that year he landed three top-10 singles on Beatport, a Pete Tong “essential new tune of the week” on BBC’s Radio 1, and two video game licenses. What a beast. From now on when this blog refers to "God", Wolfgang is the man i will be referring too. Everyone of his tracks is flawless and full of detail. Perfect for parties or just treating your ears.

By far my favorite tracks of his, This track is the start of my 1000 points hall of fame. Love this one, This is an essential track and you must download it now! don't worry about a preview just get it!

Wolfgang Gartner & Mark Knight - Conscindo (Original Club Mix) (10 points)
Mark Knight! the king of tech house and God team up to make this killer track, this ones on the tech house side of music so it may not be for everyone, but this is my second favorite of his tracks. Sorry there is no preview for this track so you wont be able to listen before you download. I still highly recommend this track.

Wolfgang Gartner - Wolfgang's 5th Symphony (Original Mix) (10 points)
This track has a similar structure to Fire Power so if you liked that then you will love this one. My third favorite of his tracks. Samples one of Mozart's most famous symphony's. I dropped this at a collage party and everyone freaked! I highly recommend this one also.

Wolfgang Gartner - Space Junk (Original Mix)
His latest track to date and its funky. With a super catchy synthline and the words "Space Junk" used as a command to dance this track shouldn't be missed. This track is a perfect dance anthem.

Wolfgang Gartner - Undertaker (Original Mix)
Following a similar structure to Fire Power and 5th Symphony this track kills. When i heard this played in a club I went nuts! so bassy yet so much high end. Its got a funky muted guitar line which leads into electrical madness. Recommended.

Deadmau5 feat. Wolfgang Gartner - Animal Rights (Original Mix)
When God and Jesus get together they party to this. I must be honest i was expecting so much more from this collab but its still a great track. Super funky synthline. Classic Wolfgang drums with deadmau5 added cheekiness.

Wolfgang Gartner - Illmerica (Extended Mix)
The last of his track I am going to post but he has so many more. I could see an indie band transpose this to rock instruments and playing it live, (someone please do then email it to me) When Wolfgang released this track he also left a message for all fans, I'm going to leave you on that note, take it to heart and buy all his track from Beatport

Recently Britney Spears released a new track, me being me had to get it and i fell in love, I first heard about this track when a mate said Britney Spears makes dubstep now! i didn't believe him and thought he was joking or that it wouldn't work so i had a listen and it works!
Sadly i love this track and its going into my secret obsessions folder.

Rusko Concert

First off if you don't like dubstep or just don't listen to it you still would've loved this concert, he has so much energy and stage presence that he would've got you dancing no matter what he played!

The doors opened at 10pm and we got there around 10:30pm to a lineup for some local DJ's playing average sets.

Then at around 12pm Mr.Mime came on, dressed in a big black cloak with a plain white masquerade mask and white gloves, I have to admit he looked cool, and started his set with a dramatic piece of classical music leading into 1 hour of undanceble useless "Darkstep" and Amen Breaks. By now we had had enough and were outside socializing when we heard Rusko start speaking.

Right from the start this guy's set was flawless, playing killer track after track, i don't listen to dubstep enough to tell you exactly what songs he played but i did recognize a lot of them. He got the whole crowed sweating in no time, my shirt was actually dripping after the show! If this guy ever comes again i will definitely be going again

This is by far my favorite tracks of his, That bass is so heavy and perfect. If you dont have this get it now!

Hold On ft. Amber Coffman (Sub Focus Remix) - Rusko
He played this one near the end and everyone started swaying and clapping in the singing bit then as so as it drop he did what you see in the picture above. Recomended.

Cockney Thug - Rusko (10 points)
He played this one last and it works so well. This is his most famous track and everyone knew the words and shouted "wake the fuck up" before dancing like mad men cause they were to drunk to stand by now

Rusko played this track halfway though his set and i must say this killed live! The first bit of it also makes a great alarm or ringtone.
